The U-2 Dragon Lady
James Kellerman
This 8 minute documentary on the U2 features pilot interviews and some beautiful in-flight footage. The U2 is described as the most difficult aircraft in the world to land, requiring the pilot to stall the aircraft when they are just a foot or two above the runway. Any higer and the aircraft will bounce, potentially causing it to stall from a greater height damaging the airframe and sensor package. Pressure suits and helmets reduce the pilots visibilty making it hard for them to tell just how close they are to the runway. A chase car with pilot has to talk the U2 pilot down on every landing.
